FIND A REASON TO START

FIND A REASON TO START
“Doing the difficult things that you’ve never done awakens the talents you never knew you had.” - Robin Sharma
Do you do things that are difficult?
Do you intentionally put yourself in uncomfortable situations?
Do you challenge yourself with different obstacles?
“Embrace the suck.” I believe this phrase gets misinterpreted by most people.
You, and most everyone else, are looking for one thing….. Comfort.
Always looking for an easier way to perform specific tasks. Always finding reasons to not challenge or test yourself physically, mentally, or emotionally. Always looking to give yourself a break for working so hard.
You know that this mindset is not good for you, yet you still allow it to dictate everything that you do. Why?
My default mindset with most things (whether it be my relationship, gym, or work) is that I will only have to work hard on these things for a short period of time. Putting in the work for that short period of time will allow me to get each of those components to a place that will eventually allow me to just “maintain”. That’s how my fucking mind works. The belief that one day I won’t have to work as hard and I can just chill. I’ve realized that this mindset is complete bullshit! This is just the way that you and I have been conditioned to think.
So how do we fix it?
I don’t have that answer for you, but what I do have is the strategies that I have implemented to combat this mindset. And it comes down to one thing….. Doing. Hard. Shit. Everyday.
Every morning I have a routine that I follow that allows me to keep myself on track. The routine consists of:
1. WAKE UP EARLY (On work days I wake up a little after 3am and am at the gym by 4am.)
2. EARLY WORKOUTS (While everyone else is still dreaming of what they want to be, I am building my fucking body and mind.)
3. COLD SHOWERS (Because nothing that happens during my day will suck as bad as standing under a freezing cold shower head for at least 2 minutes in the morning.)
4. READING (Because I fucking hate reading but I also know the importance of putting useful knowledge and ideas into my tool belt.)
5. PRAYING (One of the most difficult things for me as I feel bad about having a conversation with the Big Man, knowing I let Him down for not being the man that He and I both know I can become. However, I try to show gratitude for everything that He has provided me throughout my life.)
6. INTERMITTENT FASTING (I fast for at least 12 hours to help build discipline, focus and increase testosterone level. Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT recommended for women in regards to your hormonal health)
Now, I am not saying that these different things will work for you. You may have some different ideas as to what hard things need to be implemented into your life. You know what you need to do. If every miserable fucking day is the same (which I am very familiar with), then the way to adjust is to implement difficult tasks into your daily routine.
Challenge yourself to overcome different obstacles and I promise that you will feel better emotionally, mentally, and physically. Your confidence levels will increase drastically. Your home life and work life will continue to improve as you will not be as complacent as you were before. You will actually believe in your fucking self like you never have before. Because you are developing DISCIPLINE. The trait that everyone jokes about wanting to have but will not put forth the effort to work towards.
Life should be fun. It should be enjoyable. But life is much more enjoyable and fun when you have earned the opportunity to appreciate it. The hard shit that you do daily will help create a better life than just going through the same fucking motions every single day.
So force yourself to do difficult tasks and embrace the suck. Every single day. And I promise that your whole mentality will begin to shift towards being the person that you want to become.
